Lignum Vitae Knife Scales

Lignum Vitae’s heartwood color can range from a olive to a dark greenish brown to almost black, sometimes with a reddish hue. The color tends to darken with age, especially upon exposure to light. ( this color aging can be seen in the above picture. The light are is where the items price tag was protecting the wood from direct sunlight and the lighter scale was facing the rear of the package. It has a very fine texture and can be oily. The bare wood polishes to a high luster.

Use precauations working this wood as some people are highly alergic to it.
